THE SHORT ANSWER
HealthCare.gov Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026–January 15, 2027. Want coverage starting January 1? Enroll by December 15 and pay your first premium if one is due.
Whether you work for yourself, need family coverage, or want a fresh look at your current plan, this is a useful window to review your options. This independent guide summarizes official HealthCare.gov information; your state Marketplace may use different deadlines.
01 / THE CALENDAR
Put the right date on your calendar.
For states using HealthCare.gov, the timing of your plan selection determines when your 2027 coverage can begin.
| Date | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| NOV 12026 | Open Enrollment begins. Start enrolling in or changing Marketplace coverage for 2027. |
| DEC 152026 | Deadline for a January 1 start. Select your plan by this date and pay the first premium if due. |
| JAN 152027 | HealthCare.gov Open Enrollment ends. Plans selected December 16–January 15 start February 1, with the first premium paid if due. |

Submitting a contact form is neither. Finish your Marketplace enrollment, confirm your effective date, and follow your insurer’s payment instructions before relying on the plan.
02 / YOUR LOCATION
Does your state have its own deadline?
Some states run their own Marketplace. Check that Marketplace’s calendar rather than assuming the federal dates apply. HealthCare.gov’s state Marketplace directory points you to the right place. State-specific coverage and enrollment rules should always be confirmed there.
03 / A LITTLE PREPARATION
Don’t just compare the monthly price.
A lower premium matters. So do the costs when you use your plan. Before comparing, make a short list:
- Your doctors and prescriptions. Check the plan’s network and covered-drug list.
- Your household and expected yearly income. These help the Marketplace assess potential financial assistance.
- Your total budget. Look at the premium, deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum together.
- Your current coverage. Note when it ends and any coverage offered through your job.
Have this information ready for a Marketplace application or a conversation with a licensed insurance agent. You do not need to share medical records, payment information, or a Social Security number to request a call on this website.
Eligible households may receive a tax credit that lowers monthly premiums. Assistance depends on your circumstances; the Marketplace makes the eligibility decision. See how premium tax credits work and the official application guide.

04 / OUTSIDE OPEN ENROLLMENT
Missed the deadline? Your situation matters.
A qualifying life change, such as losing eligible coverage, getting married, or having a baby, may open a Special Enrollment Period. Timing and documentation requirements apply; not every change qualifies. Medicaid and CHIP accept applications throughout the year.
Review the official Special Enrollment Period guidance to understand which rules may fit your situation. Don’t assume you must wait—or that you automatically qualify.
Two more questions worth asking.
Should I review my plan if I already have coverage?
Yes. Compare your upcoming premium, benefits, doctors, and prescriptions, and update your expected income and household information with the Marketplace. Last year’s choice may not fit next year’s needs.
Can OEP Navigator enroll me through this form?
No. The form requests contact from Quote Variety. It does not provide a quote, determine eligibility, submit an application, or enroll you. Plan selection and enrollment require separate steps and your authorization.
